Does the cartridge of Brother HL-L2350DW need to replace the chip?

Brother TN-760 Toner Cartridge come with chip or without chip?

Many people use Brother printers. Do you know whether the toner cartridge of your printer come with chip?

Many people don’t pay attention to whether the toner cartridge contains chips. Some of them don’t realize that their toner cartridge needs chips until their printer can’t recognize the new toner cartridge. Did you know that the toner cartridge of Brother HL-L2350DW printer needs a chip?

What’s the toner chip?

Brother TN-760 Toner Chip

Have you noticed that you receive a warning every time you run out of toner or ink? Now many printer cartridges come with smart chips. A smart chip is like a small circuit board, which located at a specific position of the toner cartridge and is consistent with the position of the identification chip in the printer.

What is the toner chip used for?

1. They contain cartridge specific information, such as model and print volume. (therefore, the printer can recognize that the correct cartridge is installed).

2. They are mainly used to store information, including recording your print usage and ensuring the capacity of toner.

How does the toner chip work?

The toner chip is used to monitor and count the amount of the droplets during printing. Chips are programmed for specific toner designs and once a certain number of droplets are used, the chip will provide a warning and stop printing.

Does the Brother HLL2350DW printer cartridge come with chip?

The answer is yes! The Brother toner TN-760 which compatible for HL-L2350dw printer come with chip. In addition, it is compatible with the following brother printers: HL-L2370DW, HL-L2370DW XL, HL-L2350DW, HL-L2390DW, HL-L2395DW, MFC-L2750DW, MFC-L2750DW XL, MFC-L2710DW, MFC-L2730DW, DCP-L2550DW.

But some times, Brother TN-760 did not come with chip. For example, v4ink launched the no chip version of TN-760 toner as early as 2018.

What does the no chip mean? No chip means that you need to replace the chips from the original OEM (genuine) Brother TN-760 toner cartridges to the new compatible toner cartridges.

During the production of TN-760, some compatible manufacturers found that the chips removed from the original toner cartridge can be used normally when placed on the new compatible toner cartridge. This kind of no chip toner cartridge version of the product reduces the cost of chip research and development, the price is much lower than the original, and is more loved by consumers.

The only disadvantage of this no chip cartridge is that the chip needs to be removed from the original equipment and installed into the new cartridge.

How to replace the chip of Brother TN-760 high yield toner cartridge?

You can also follow the steps listed below:

Step 1 – Turn the printer off first

Step 2 – Open the printer cover and take off the old toner with the drum together;

Step 3 – Take out the toner cartridge from the drum unit;

Step 4 – Take off the chip from the OEM toner cartridge with screw-driver;

Step 5 – Install the chip into the new toner cartridge;

Does the chip need to be reset after replacement?

You may need to reset the toner chip depending on your printer model. Some toner chips can be used normally without reset after replacement, but some printers may record the old data of the chip and promote the error message, such as “toner cartridge is empty” or “toner low” resulting in failure to use normally or recording the amount of the droplets normally.

How can I make my printer recognize my new toner cartridge?

If your toner cartridge is not recognized by the printer after reinstallation, please calm down. The following methods may help you:

Step 1 – When you remove the old cartridge, allow roughly 10 minutes before installing the new one.

Step 2 – Try replacing the old cartridge with the new one and see if the printer will recognize the cartridge.

Step 3 – If that doesn’t work, remove the new cartridge and place it in a safe place and surface so there won’t be further damage.

Step 4 – Turn off the power and unplug the printer from the outlet and let it sit for 10 or so minutes.

Step 5 – Plug it back in and re-insert the cartridge.

Step 6 – Turn the power back on and this should work and your new cartridge should work!

If that didn’t work, you can try the following steps:

Clean the smart chip of the toner cartridge – this piece of metal can often times get dirty and would require a cleaning.

Step 1 – Power down and unplug the printer. Carefully remove the cartridge and place it in a safe place. Inspect the cartridge and the inside of the printer for any metal contacts. You should also check the inside of the printer for the connection point.

Step 2 – Softly, with a dry cloth, wipe the contacts on the cartridge and printer in order to remove any dirt or residue that has built up over the years. Replace the cartridge, power back on and try again to print.

The emergence of “new chip” or “second generation chip”

With the emergence of more and more compatible toner cartridges, the status of original toner cartridges has been shaken, and they have to take measures, one of which is to improve their chips or upgrade the firmware of the equipment.

OEM (original equipment manufacturers) upgrades its chips or printer firmware from time to time, so that the old chips cannot run on newer printers. This is why for some ink or toner models, you will see new chip versions or second-generation versions. The main purpose is to let printers only recognize OEM toner cartridges, so as to monopolize the whole market.

With the progress of technology, v4ink has been able to independently develop its own smart chip, which is compatible with original printer and adapt to the latest firmware of the equipment.

All TN-760 toner models currently on sale in v4ink come with chips, which are more convenient and affordable. The cumbersome steps of replacing the chip are abandoned, and the installation method is as simple as the original. It can provide the same printing effect and number of pages as the original product, and the price is only 20% of the original one.
